Lutron Caséta in Canadensis

Caséta is what we put in most cabins and rental properties here, because it does not depend on the house having good internet and it survives a renter. The bridge talks to the switches over Lutron's own radio, so a dropped Wi-Fi connection never means dark rooms.

Rural and remote properties

Out here the deciding factor is that Caséta does not need good internet. The Smart Bridge talks to the switches over Lutron Clear Connect, a dedicated low-frequency band with real range, and the schedules run locally whether or not the connection is up. On a property where service is a fixed wireless link or Starlink, that independence is the whole reason to choose it.

Local conditions

What this looks like in Canadensis.

The housing here

Substantial older homes on large lots, plus a scattering of newer builds. Stone and heavy timber construction is common and it is unfriendly to wireless signal.

Connectivity

Variable and generally worse than the numbers suggest, because heavy tree cover and stone walls degrade whatever arrives at the property.

Why owners here buy it

A mix of year-round and seasonal owners. Networking and coverage first, then lighting and audio once there is something reliable to build on.

Questions

Caséta questions from Canadensis homeowners

Something not covered here? Call (267) 719-3598 and ask.

Do you install lutron caséta in Canadensis?

Yes. Canadensis is part of our regular service area and we work throughout Monroe County, including Canadensis, Cresco, Mountainhome. We are based in Pocono Pines, so this is work we do ourselves rather than subcontract.

How many switches can Caséta handle?

Seventy-five devices on a Smart Bridge PRO, but the practical ceiling is lower. Past about 20 lighting loads you want RadioRA 3 instead, mostly for the keypads and the better scene handling.

Will it work with Alexa, Google, and HomeKit?

All three, plus Ring, Ecobee, and Sonos. The PRO bridge adds Control4, Crestron, and Josh.ai integration if you ever go that direction.
